URGENT: Act Now to Protect Trans Youth – Tell the Senate to Reject H.4608
For nearly two full years now, advocates across South Carolina - including LGBTQ+ people, doctors, parents, educators, business leaders, and more - have been speaking out against the anti-transgender student sports bill, which would restrict trans youth from participating in school sports.
But anti-trans forces have forged ahead with their attack, even after we have blocked proposal after proposal. And now, this discriminatory bill - H.4608 - is closer to passage than ever before. Today the bill was assigned “special order” in the Senate, meaning it will be prioritized for discussion and a likely vote.
This is the all-hands-on-deck moment where we need every voice in South Carolina who supports trans youth to come together and oppose this bill. We need you to take action and flood Senators’ email inboxes and offices with messages expressing your strong opposition to H.4608.
Click here to make a call to Senate targets telling them you unequivocally support trans youth and oppose this bill. Then, rush an email to every Senator urging them to vote NO on H.4608.
H.4608 is a cruel and demeaning way to single out trans youth and is a purely manufactured political attack on our community: We already have policies in place that preserve fairness in women’s sports and allow a path toward participation for trans young people.
But anti-trans forces have been relentless in their pursuit of an anti-LGBTQ point for two years, and now is one of our final chances to stop this bill.
Please, if there’s one thing you do this week, click here to call your Senators and urge them to vote NO on H.4608 and express your support for transgender young people in South Carolina. Then, send them an email, too.
Thank you - for everything.
