Take Action to Resist Curriculum Censorship in Columbia

Anti-LGBTQ legislation is on the move THIS WEEK in South Carolina.

This Wednesday, March 15, at 9:00am, the Senate Subcommittee on Education is scheduled to consider H.3728 – a dangerous bill that would censor speech of educators across the state to ban discussion of racism and LGBTQ issues.

We need to show up at the Statehouse on Wednesday, in force, with our allies to demonstrate to lawmakers that South Carolinians oppose censorship in our schools! Can you make it? Please join our partners at the ACLU of SC on Wednesday morning at 8:45am in Gressette Building Room 308.

Then we need to flood our lawmakers inboxes with messages from South Carolinians who oppose censorship in our schools! Send a message now asking your lawmakers to oppose H.3728.

With so many bad bills moving in South Carolina, it’s hard to keep track. That’s because our opponents want to overwhelm us. They want us to stop paying attention so they can rush through their anti-LGBTQ agenda without pushback.

But make no mistake: If there are harmful, anti-LGBTQ bills moving, we will speak out. And we will fight back with everything we’ve got until they are defeated.

So join us at the Statehouse on Wednesday as we take a stand against legislation that would erase the histories and realities of people of color and LGBTQ+ people from South Carolina’s schools! We’ll see you there at 8:45am.

And then, please send a message to your lawmakers asking them to vote NO on censoring South Carolina’s curriculum.

As always, we’ll keep you updated - and hopefully we’ll see you in Columbia.
